Awh! Hey thanks <3 I don’t really know what else to say but thank youuu! ;A;
Hello Anon, thanks for the ask, and thank you for the compliment.
I will say I am somewhat baffled by the thought that I whitewashed Garnet in the picture. It is, as it stands, just a line art drawing right now, with no local colors (local meaning the color of the thing in question) at all. I really wanted to push the idea that they’re underneath some big trees, so I did overlay a grey shadow of dappled light filtering through the trees. Otherwise everything, Garnet’s skin tone, hair, Ame’s skin tone, Rose’s hair, the grass, dirt, clothing, and tree bark, all of which should at the very least show some color, are all white/valueless. It has nothing to do with me trying to make Garnet whiter than she is, it is just lines.
If it is in reference to her hair, I admit I did consider it carefully before I changed it. In the original sketch, her afro was intact, but I wanted to show that she and Pearl are touching their hands together, so I decided to change her hairstyle to a much closer cropped, tightly curled hairstyle typical of Roman men in that era. Everyone has their hair/clothing changed to reflect the styles of the time, and I was hoping that maintaining a coiffed, curly hairstyle would still show she has curls, even if they’re artfully arranged as they are in the statuary from the time.
I hope you will take a look at some of my other work, because I have drawn Garnet quite a lot, and I try my best to keep her faithful to canon skin tone and hairstyle. I hope this response also clarifies things for others, because I don’t agree with whitewashing, and did not want to give that impression.
Thank you again for the ask.
Rose Quartz was not Pink Diamond, but she was Pink Diamond’s champion. Excellently well made with the rare ability to heal gems, she aligned with Pink Diamond’s focus and ideals of life.
Pink Diamond’s main purpose was life, gem life. She ran kindergartens and focused on making new gems and healing the injured. When gems died, through accident or war, she returned their shards to the planet, to replenish their energy for new gems to be made.
When Earth was selected for a new colony, Pink Diamond took issue with its use because she learned that the process of making gems would kill the life that already lived there. Unlike her fellow Diamonds, Pink recognized that organic life was important, and had a purpose in of itself. Where other gems thought that anything made without purpose was worthless, Pink rebelled.
Sometime during the war, she was shattered.
When Pink Diamond died, Homeworld lost the ability to heal gems, and could no longer make gems with the same resources, because they were no longer recycled into the energy system of Homeworld or the other Colonies.
It is also why they experimented with clusters, to see if they could re-purpose slain gems to extend their usefulness. The Mega-Cluster embedded in the earth was just Yellow Diamonds last middle finger to the earth that caused them so many problems, including the life of their Sister Diamond.
That’s why Era 2 gems are made to work with technological enhancements, because those can be produced without relying on gem energy, as currently produced gems are made smaller and weaker.
I do sort of wonder if I got this question because of my habit of drawing Pearl as totally flat chested.
To answer, with regards to canon Pearl, no, she is not trans. She, like all the CGs are agendered aliens who use gendered pronouns. I tend to draw gems as missing typical human anatomy, such as no eyebrows, fingernails, etc. I think it makes them subtly more alien that way. Rose is rather unique in having eyebrows consistently as part of her construct as well as breasts. Amethyst, being closest to human of the gems in personality may or may not have breasts as well.
If I were to make a human AU, or to imagine what each of the gems would be like if they were human, I could see myself having Pearl be trans, it would certainly be interesting and I can actually picture it pretty well. I haven’t made a human AU version of the gems yet so I hadn’t much considered it.
Thank you for the question, anon!

Hay thanks for the ask! Eee I’m all excited.
1. Digital all the way, baby. I like some traditional media, like graphite, pen & ink sometimes, but I will invariably look at it and go ‘I wish I could just transform this, move this here, rotate that’ or moan about the lack of ctrl+z on paper. :/
13. Hm, both of these things are fun to do. I do enjoy the challenge of making things that someone else will enjoy, and being able to give it to them, but I have eclectic tastes and nothing really beats being able to spend time exploring stuff that I think is interesting.
14. I have done before! I think it’s really fun and rewarding to do. I’ve done art trades in the past, and drawn pics for fics/vice versa. I work as a teacher and used to work as a college tutor so helping people flesh out designs and character art is always immensely rewarding for me.
18. Oh gosh there’s a lot of stuff. I think big challenges for me are backgrounds, particularly the really nice realistic stuff. I don’t think I have a very good sense for color in paintings, so that’s something I’m working on too.
25. MUSIC. I can work in silence, and silence is preferable to me than like, say, having people talking in the background or like a movie or something (I can’t focus with TV/films going) but music is SO GOOD YES. GOOD FOR ME SOUL IT IS.
27. This really varies for me, like a comic can have 20+ layers. (Sketch, Lineart, Gutters, Flat colors, Shading, backgrounds, text, text bubbles, special effects (glows, dust, smoke w/e)) Most of my paintings are simpler, maybe 5/6 but I make and merge as I go. Typically a finished piece will have a lineart layer, 1-3 painting layers for figures, background, and another layer for layer effects and special effects.

I rarely get asks, and these ones seem fun. :3
Yeah I totally understand that, too. I do wonder if Peridot assumed one of the other Crystal Gems owned Pearl?
The only way it really makes sense to me is probably that Peridot is conditioned to not normally interact with Pearls, but in this case she was captured by one, the interaction was out of her direct control.
Because I think a random middle or low ranking gem trying to interfere with, or give orders to a Pearl would naturally be imposing on the Pearl’s posessor, a higher ranked Gem.
Hence why the homeworld Pearl was so salty that Peridot would dare interfere with the property of an Emerald.
TBH tho I just wanna see Pearls be saltier in general.
Actually, I didn’t really even think of a crossover like that! I did headcanon that there are survivors on earth somewhere, just very scattered, few and far between, and largely in other places than the U.S. and Europe. Periodically I thought Rose might take a small scout party with her in her bubble to check out intact warp pads (of which there are very few) to look but so far she hadn’t found anything and the energy to muster and maintain a large thick bubble for hours or days means she doesn’t try very often, not to mention that it means she would be leaving the others slightly more unprotected by their absence in case the corrupted try any shenanigans.
It could be that over time, a few decades, she ventured out less and less often, and that’s when the bigger cities began to crop up.
If the crossover were to happen it very well may be that fallout protagonist either is exploring/checking out a gem ruin when Rose & Co. show up or they somehow find their way down into one of the external entrances to the underground labyrinth carved by the corrupted gems. What happens when they encounter each other certainly would be interesting.
You’re right though, they’re not mutually incompatible.
Hey, thanks for the ask!
The underground AU is a fallout style apocalyptic setting that I dreamed about one night. The basic gist of it is that during the cold war, the US and Russia actually launched nukes against each other and the world is a blasted irradiated hellscape. The surviving gems (In this AU there are more than just Pearl, Ame, Rose, and Garnet) fled underground to escape the radiation, and they remain there, fighting gems who were corrupted from the fallout.
You can read a more detailed synopsis of the setting here. I also have a few sketches here and there of concept art I made of slightly corrupted crystal gems.
I noticed something that is bugging me a bit, and that is Steven hasn’t ever really been shown to eat vegetables, or eating healthily in general. I may try to go find pictures later but this is what I recall him eating.
Cookie Cat ice cream sandwiches
Donuts (often)
French Fries (fry bits)
Together Breakfast (he doesn’t actually eat it but it’s waffles, whip cream, chocolate syrup, popcorn, and a strawberry)
Popcorn
Macaroni and nothing
Pizza (Fish Stew, Square)
Soda
Whatever was in Sadie’s bagged lunch, PB&J? He only is shown eating the cookie
Hot Dogs
Hamburgers
Potato Chips (Chaaaaaaps)
Bacon and Eggs
A bagel sandwich with cream cheese, fried egg, and fish?
Orange Slices/Smoothie (These were for Connie but I assume he had some)
4 Cans of Creamed corn
Am I missing anything? I would like to see Steven vary his diet a little bit. Anyone agree?
